At Least Two People Killed in a Shooting at Texas A&M Commerce Residence Hall


COMMERCE, Texas: At least two people have died after a triple shooting at a residence of Texas A&M Commerce Campus.


The university was set in lockdown. Students, faculty, and staff were asked to take shelter at the location until further instruction.

Campus police said the shooting took place in the Pride Rock Residence Hall just before noon. Two people have been confirmed dead and a third person was taken to a nearby hospital on an unknown condition.

“Officers are being deployed throughout the campus. Please restrict movement until further notice, “Texas A&M Trade Police Department said on Twitter.

The University Authority said that the Rayburn Student Center was opened for additional shelter space. Classes were also canceled for the day.

SKY4’s video showed several police cars surrounding the campus. Officers appeared in a crime scene tape wrap around the residence hall.

Trade ISD placed its schools in lockout mode as a precaution due to police activity at the university.
