Australian Open 2020: Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Serena Williams, and Osaka Entered in The Next Round


Australian Open 2020: At the Australian Open on Wednesday, all the star players won their respective matches and entered the next round. Veteran Roger Federer defeated 41st ranked player Filip Krajinovic. He beat Philip by 6–1, 6–4, 6–1 in the second round to advance to the third round. In addition to Federer, among the men, Novak Djokovic defeated Japanese wildcard stripper Tatsuma Ito 6–1, 6–4, 6–2 in the Australian Open 2020.

Among women, 38-year-old veteran Serena Williams recorded her 351st win in her 400th Grand Slam singles match. She defeated 22-year-old Tamara Zidansek 6–2, 6–3 to secure her place in the third round.

Osaka also in next round

In other matches, defending champion Naomi Osaka defeated Zheng Sensei of China 6-2, 6-4 to enter the third round of the Australian Open women’s singles. She will now face 15-year-old Coco Gow.

Coco defeated veteran Sorana Christie by 4-6 6-3 7-5. She defeated seven-time Grand Slam champion, Venus Williams, at Wimbledon last year. At the same time, 2019 runner-up Petra Quitova defeated Paula Badosa 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the next round.

Former world number one Carolyn Wozniacki defeated Ukraine’s Diana Yastremska 7-5, 7-5. World number one player Ashley Barty of Australia defeated Polona Herzog 6–1, 6–4.

Fourteenth-ranked Sofia Kenin, 18th-ranked Allison Riske, 25th-ranked Ekaterina Alexandrova and Julia Georges also advanced to the next round. Julia defeated 13th seed Petra Martich 4-6 6-3 7-5. In the first round match, Carla Suarez Navarro defeated 11th seed Arena Sabalenka 7-6, 7-6. At the same time, Taylor defeated America’s Jessica Pegula 6-4, 7-6.

Sharan-Sitak in the second round, Bopanna-Uchiyama lost

Divij Sharan of India and Artem Sitak of New Zealand reached the second round of doubles. Rohan Bopanna lost the match. The pair of Sharan and Sitak defeated Pablo Carano Basta of Portugal and João Sousa of Spain 6-4,7-5. They will now face the winner of the match between tenth seeded Met Pavio Bruno Soares and Ben Molachlan and Luke Bambridge. The duo of Bopanna and Japan’s Yasutaka Uchiyama were outplayed after losing 1-6, 6-3, 3-6 to American Bab and Mike Bryan. Bopanna will now play in mixed doubles with Sania Mirza.
