The relationship between former Indian opener and currently BJP MP from Delhi Gautam Gambhir and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is well known but Gambhir has replaced Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his All-Time XI Test team for India and former leg-spin. Speaking to ‘Sports Tak’, Gautam Gambhir put Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar in his team as openers. For the third and fourth numbers, he retained veterans like Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Both these players are counted among the great players of cricket. Apart from this, both have also captained the Indian team. The current Indian team captain Virat Kohli was selected to bat at number five on this list.

He is the only all-rounder in this team as former Indian captain Kapil Dev. In the spin bowling department, he has kept the famous pair of Harbhajan Singh-Anil Kumble in his team. While the responsibility of fast bowling has been given to Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath.

In the IPL, when Gautam Gambhir was the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders and under his captaincy, he made Kolkata the first champion in 2012, then he said that he can also captain India’s Test team if given a chance. From that time on, there was unwanted tension in Gambhir and Dhoni’s relationship.

Dhoni was then the captain of India in all three formats. On April 2, when the International Cricket Council (ICC) mentioned Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s historic winning six in the final of the World Cup 2011, Gambhir was shocked and said that this World Cup was won with full team support.

Gautam Gambhir tweeted tauntingly, to remind you that India won the 2011 World Cup title together by the Indian team and support staff. The time has come to reduce your attachment with a six. But choosing his all-time Test team, Gambhir took into consideration Dhoni’s tremendous batting and wicketkeeping and kept him in the team as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
