Sonia Gandhi says

  • The government is oppressing people, spreading hatred and trying to divide our people on a communal basis. There is an uproar in the country. The constitution is being weakened and government resources are being misused.
  • Modi-Shah misled the country in the name of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and NRC.
  • The youth are organizing nationwide protests and they have got the support of the people of the country. The main reason for this is CAA and NRC. There are disappointment and anger among the people, who have now come on the streets. The police response in UP and Delhi during this period is shocking, biased and brutal.
  • After Jamia, Banaras Hindu University, Allahabad University, AMU and other higher educational institutions, BJP also showed terror in JNU. The Modi-Shah government has failed completely to govern and provide security to the people.

At the same time, Rahul Gandhi also surrounded the government on many issues. Talking to the media after the meeting, Rahul said that instead of dealing with the problem of youth, they are engaged in the sharing of people. The complaint of the youth is justified, they should not be suppressed, the government should listen to their voice. He said that I challenge the Prime Minister to go to university.

Leaders of 20 parties included

The meeting, convened by the Congress, included leaders of 20 parties including party president Sonia Gandhi, former president Rahul Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, senior Congress leaders Ahmed Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad, CPI’s D Raja, RLD’s Ajit Singh. Shiv Sena, Aam Aadmi Party, Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have not attended this meeting.

Mayawati told- Why did we avoid meeting

Mayawati said in a tweet that even after the BSP’s support to the Rajasthan Congress government from outside, it has broken BSP MLAs there and included them in their party, which is completely unfaithful. In such a situation, the joining of BSP in the meeting called by the opposition today under the leadership of the Congress, it will demoralize the people of the party in Rajasthan. Therefore, the BSP will not attend their meeting.

He said that anyway, the BSP is against the CAA and NRC, etc. There is a further appeal to the Central Government to withdraw this divisive and unconstitutional law. Also, it is very unfortunate to politicize students in JNU and other educational institutions.

Mamta also denied

On Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had stated clearly that if needed, she would fight alone. In the House itself, he announced a boycott of the meeting of opposition parties convened on 13 January by Congress President Sonia Gandhi against violence on university campuses and the CAA.

Aam Aadmi Party did not attend the meeting

The Aam Aadmi Party also shied away from the Opposition meeting called on the Citizenship Law and the CAA. The party said that none of its leaders would participate in this meeting.

No information about Mamta’s decision: Congress

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had said, “I am not aware of any decision of Mamata Banerjee.” As far as I know, the Congress Party has raised its voice against the CAA and NRC within and outside Parliament and invited opposition leaders to come to the January 13 meeting. I cannot say whether she will come or not. ‘
