Shaheen Bagh: On Saturday, a man opened fire in a protest against the ongoing Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. Due to the firing, there was chaos among the people present there. However, the police present there has taken the person who fired the bullet into custody.

In this regard, the police said that the person caught had done two firings in the air. There is no damage to anyone in this firing. The person who fired the bullet has been identified as Kapil Gurjar and is a resident of Dallupura near Delhi-Noida. According to media reports, the man opened fire near the police barricade planted at the protest site.

The protesting women formed a human chain to protest against the firing at Shaheen Bagh. At the same time, DCP of Delhi Police Chinmay Biswal, while giving information about the incident, said that this firing was done in the air, although the police have arrested the attacker. The attacker is arrested and taken to Sarita Vihar police station, where he is being questioned.

Let me tell you that earlier on January 30 at Jamia Millia Islamia University, a minor was also firing at the crowd while the students marched against CAA to Rajghat. In this incident, a student of Jamia was shot in the hand. The juvenile has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the Juvenile and Justice Board. At the same time, the police say that a board should be formed to check his age.

Significantly, in Shaheen Bagh, there has been a demonstration against the CAA for the last 49 days. Earlier on January 28, a man was arrested with weapons in Shaheen Bagh. The captured person had reached the stage waving the pistol. The man holding the pistol in his hand warned the protesting people to vacate the stage within minutes. The people present there had taken the young man out of the stage. The police identified the man as Mohammad Lukman.
