Coronavirus Update: The coronavirus has been declared an epidemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Worldwide, more than 126,000 people are infected with coronavirus and 4,624 people have died. At the same time, the number of COVID-19 positive cases in India has reached 73 on Thursday morning. The government has suspended the visas of foreigners of Indian origin from Friday to April 15 to reduce the infection in the country. At the same time, the government has urged Indians to avoid traveling non-must.


During the discussion in Parliament, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan stated that the National Institute of Virology is our central reference laboratory in Pune. We have since started with 15 labs as it is not a routine test, it cannot be tested in every lab. The activities are being coordinated in 51 laboratories across the country and collection centers at 56 locations.

The Health Minister said that we were the first to bring people back from Wuhan, then after Iran, we brought people back by cruise ship. He said that we are sharing the details with the states and international calls are coming to our helpline number.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha that recently I visited Srinagar and met the parents of students trapped in Iran. I assured them that the government would bring their children back as soon as possible. I would like to tell the House that the sampling of these students has started today.

Where communities are quite concerned, we should reassure them and encourage supervisors of globally recognized precautions and procedures. It is important to be alert at the right time.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar while speaking on the Coronavirus in the Lok Sabha said that we are intervening where needed. We are taking the necessary steps from China, Japan to Iran. But different situations need a different response. Avoid traveling at this time as it is very risky.
