Coronavirus Update: The number of people infected with Covid19 in India increased to 81


Coronavirus Update: The number of coronavirus infected patients in the country has risen to 81. Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Lav Aggarwal said that out of the 81 cases reported so far, 64 are Indians, 16 are citizens of Italy and one Canada. He said that it is not a health emergency.


Joint Secretary of Home Ministry Anil Malik said that the India-Bangladesh passenger bus/train service will be suspended till April 15. There will be 4 outposts along the Indo-Nepal border. Visa-free entry will continue for citizens of Bhutan and Nepal.

The Ministry of Health said that people coming in contact with those found infected with Covid-19 are being investigated. So far, more than 4000 such contacts have been identified, which have been kept under surveillance. The ministry said that the government has brought 42,296 passengers to India so far, of which 2,559 have shown symptoms of the virus and 522 people have been admitted to the hospital. It has 17 foreign nationals.

Rubina Ali, joint secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, said Air India would bring back the stranded Indians in Milan (Italy). The flight will leave on Saturday afternoon and will land at Delhi Airport on Sunday morning.

Lav Aggarwal said that 124 people from Japan and 112 people brought from China are being discharged for the second time after the test of coronavirus was negative. He said that if masks are sold at higher prices, the state can take action as per law. If needed, we will take drastic action on the unusual increase in the price of masks.

On the call of the Center for Epidemic Act, Lav Aggarwal said that it is important to understand that this is not a health emergency. We are trying to support the initiative taken by the state in terms of managing the situation. Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Dammu Ravi said that there are about 220 students around Milan and Italy, it is our priority to bring them back. If some students remain, they can contact our missions and we will help them further.
