Statement of Ministry of Health on the statement of AIIMS Director
The Ministry emphasized that the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of these days if strictly followed, can prevent the cases of Covid-19 from reaching its peak.
He commented on the statement of Dr. Randeep Guleria, director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), about the onset of coronavirus infection in India in June or July.
Convalescent Plasma Therapy
Agarwal said that ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) will conduct clinical trials in 21 hospitals to assess the safety of the ‘Convulsant Plasma Therapy’ and give the desired results.
Under ‘Convulsant Plasma Therapy’, doctors take plasmas from the blood of people who have been free of coronavirus infection and use it to treat other Covid-19 patients. The doctors call the plasma of people infected with infection-free as ‘Convalescent Plasma’ because it contains antibodies to the coronavirus.
Agarwal said that out of the patients being treated for Covid-19, 3.2 percent are being given oxygen, 4.2 percent are in ICU, while 1.1 percent are kept on the ventilator.
During this, Agarwal informed that 5,231 coaches of the train have been converted into Covid-19 care centers, will be installed at 215 stations, and will be used to treat patients with very mild, mild symptoms infected with Coronavirus.
