Delhi police registered FIR against 44 DTC bus drivers-conductors for carrying migrant workers amid lockdown


New Delhi: The Delhi Police has registered an FIR on 44 DTCs and cluster buses for taking migrant laborers from several areas of Delhi to Anand Vihar ISBT during the lockdown. An FIR has been registered at Shakarpur Police Station. Officials said that a case has been registered against all under the Disaster Management Act 2005 and other IPC sections.


According to the FIR registered by Delhi Police, on March 29, a case has been registered against the bus driver, conductor and other government officials including Delhi Integrated Multi-Model Transit System (DIIMTS) chief CK Goyal on charges of transporting migrant laborers. It is mentioned in the FIR that the drivers have also stated that they are doing so due to the order given above.

According to the FIR, when the drivers were asked whom they were taking the migrant laborers to the bus station for free, they said that the order had come from above to do so.

Thousands of migrant laborers left Delhi on foot during the lockdown. After this, laborers were flown from Delhi to DTC buses and transported to Anand Vihar and other places. Officials said migrant workers from different areas, including Badarpur, Vasant Vihar, Harinagar, Anand Parbat, Uttam Nagar, Mangolpuri, Munirka, and Punjabi Bagh, were taken by driver buses from Delhi.
