New Delhi: Former Finance Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram on Saturday told various chief ministers on Twitter to tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi that “livelihood of the poor” is equally important amidst this coronavirus crisis. He said this on Twitter, tagging Captain Amarinder, Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, V Narayanasamy, Uddhav Thackeray.

He said that the government should work in the interest of the poor when the country is fighting the threat of coronavirus. P Chidambaram said the poor are affected due to the COVID-19 crisis and lost their jobs amid lockdown. Chidambaram said in the post that – the poor have lost their jobs or self-employment in the last 18 days. They have exhausted their meager savings. Many people lined up for food. Can the state stand up and see them starve? They asked the Chief Ministers to ask PM Modi to immediately provide cash to the families of the poor.
