Kishtwar: Two militants who killed a Special Police Officer (SPO) and critically injured one of their accomplices were killed in an encounter on Friday in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Inspector-General of Police of Jammu gave this information. Officials said the two militants were killed in a shootout between the security forces and the militants.

On Monday, terrorists attacked the SPO with an ax in Tandar village and escaped into the forest. At the same time, the police searching for them got success on Friday. A police officer said that an additional police force was sent on the spot and the encounter started.

The attacking militants were identified as local residents named Aashiq Hussain and Basharat Hussain. Aashiq Hussain was accused of rape who came out of Kishtwar Central Jail on bail three weeks ago. This was the first terrorist attack in Kishtwar this year. At the same time, two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir early Friday.

A police officer said that on receiving intelligence about the presence of the terrorists, special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and Central Reserve Police Force personnel carried out a joint siege and search operation in Kigam area of ​​Shopian in the early hours. When the security forces were moving towards a particular area, the terrorists hiding there opened fire on them with automatic weapons.
