JNU Student Sharjeel Imam Arrested By Delhi Police From Jahanabad, Bihar


Shaheen Bagh, the alleged co-coordinator of the Shaheen Bagh protests and JNU student Sharjil Imam, has been arrested by the Delhi Police. Sharjeel has been arrested from Jehanabad, Bihar. Earlier on Tuesday morning, police raided her house in search of Sharjeel. From where the police detained Mujammil Imam, brother of Sharjeel.


Significantly, the Delhi Police raided Mumbai, Patna, and Delhi in search of Sharjeel. The Delhi Police feared that if he fled to Nepal via Bihar, it would be very difficult to bring back.

Delhi Police said on Monday that he was last seen on 25 January. He showed up in a meeting in Phuwari Sharif, Bihar in the evening. Sharjeel Imam had reportedly said in a video that he would separate Assam from India. This video is becoming quite viral on social media.

Don’t do anything that is not in the national interest: Nitish

On the arrest of JNU student Sharjeel Imam, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that no one should do anything which is not in the interest of the nation. Charges and arrests, the court will decide on the case.

JNU Proctorial Committee has also given instructions to appear

The matter of the controversial video of research scholar Sharjeel Imam going viral has also been taken seriously by the Proctorial Committee of JNU Campus. The committee issued notice to Sharjeel and directed it to appear by February 3.

Sharjeel’s father was a JDU leader

Sharjeel’s late father, Akbar Imam, was a local JDU leader and has once tried his luck in the assembly elections. However, he had to face defeat. Not only Sharjeel’s father but his younger brother Muzammil Imam has also been involved in politics. She left JDU only a few months ago.
