JNU Violence: Some Masked People Identified, Arrest May Happen Soon – Government Sources: Some of the masked people who entered hostels and assaulted students and teachers on January 5 in JNU have been identified. Soon police can arrest them. According to reports quoting government sources, the police have identified some of the masked people and will soon identify others appearing in the video who vandalized the property of JNU and assaulted the students.


What happened on 5 January

Student groups clashed in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus Sunday evening. More than 26 students from both sides were injured, with 12 of them suffering serious head injuries. The injured also have a female teacher along with student union president Ayishi Ghosh.

Ayishi was admitted to AIIMS Trauma Center in critical condition. JNU Students’ Union accused ABVP of assault and vandalism. Whereas, ABVP says that all this has been done by the Left.

It is said that a crowd of 40 to 50 youths wearing the mask reached the campus and attacked the hostel. Many vehicles were broken into by the masked people. By late night, 23 injured were admitted to AIIMS Trauma and three to Safdarjung Hospital.

In JNU Violence, it is alleged that the attackers entered also in the hostels of the students and assaulted them. Several ambulances reached the campus after being informed of the attack and rushed the injured to the hospital. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Vadra was also reached AIIMS to see the injured. In protest against the incident, the students were protesting till late night and reached to besiege of the police headquarters.
