New Delhi: After political uproar on several issues, the Modi government at the center and Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal have now become even firmer on the coronavirus. The central government has said that the West Bengal government is not cooperating with the central team to assess the situation regarding the coronavirus.
While full support is not available in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, but the team is being stopped in West Bengal. At the same time, Trinamool Congress called the Modi government’s decision against the central structure and asked why the teams were not sent to UP and Gujarat.
The Central Government on Monday constituted 6 Inter-Ministerial Central Parties (IMCT) to assess the status of COVID-19 in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and West Bengal. The Union Home Ministry said on Monday that the situation in Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata and some other places in West Bengal over COVID-19 is “particularly grave” and the coronavirus infection by the violation of lockdown rules and there is a risk of spreading.

The Union Home Ministry said, ‘Central teams have been deployed in state states. The state governments are getting full support in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. But the Home Ministry has been told that the teams which have gone to Kolkata and Jalpaiguri in West Bengal are not getting the support of the state government and the administration. They are being prevented from going to the areas, not being allowed to talk to health workers. They are not being allowed to assess the ground situation.
Center again wrote the letter: The Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that this is in violation of the order of the Central Government issued under the Disaster Management Act 2005. The Ministry of Home Affairs has written a letter to the state government today, that it should follow the order issued on April 19 from the ministry. Ensure all necessary arrangements are made so that the team can do its job.
Mamata Government protested: Expressing her objection to sending the party to West Bengal, the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, saying such a move is unilateral and unexpected. She had asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to share the basis adopted by the team for the assessment, without which her government would not be able to take any further steps.
Counterattack of Trinamool Congress: Trinamool Congress spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien said state governments are fighting against the coronavirus, but the Narendra Modi-led central government is fighting some state governments instead of coronavirus. He said, ‘Out of the districts selected for visiting central teams, 70-80% are from opposition ruled states. Why are the districts of Gujarat and UP not on this list? ‘ He called the decision to send the central team without asking the states against the federal structure.
