New Delhi: On Sunday, a group of Nihang Sikhs in Patiala district of Punjab allegedly attacked and cut off the hand of a policeman while injuring two other policemen. police gave this information. He told that a group of four-five ‘Nihangas’ (Sikhs wearing traditional weapons and wearing blue long shirts) were traveling in a vehicle and Mandi Board and officials asked for stopped them near a vegetable market at around 6.15 am.


Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu said, “They were asked to show (curfew) the pass, but they hit the doors and blockers installed there from their car.” He said that after this, these people attacked the policemen on duty.

He said, “The hand of an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was cut off with a sword. The in-charge of Patiala Sadar police station has suffered an elbow injury while the arm of another police officer has also suffered injuries in this attack. ” ASI was taken to Rajendra Hospital from where he was referred to PGIMER Chandigarh.

The SSP said that Nihang Sikhs fled the spot after the attack. Efforts are being made to arrest him. This incident occurred when restrictions are in force in the state in view of the outbreak of Coronavirus.
