Politics between Trinamool Congress and BJP over death due to coronavirus in West Bengal

Kolkata: Coronavirus has also taken political color in West Bengal. There has been a verbal war between the ruling party Trinamool Congress and BJP over the deaths caused by this deadly virus in the state. The two parties have been criticizing each other on the social media platform. BJP Information Technology Cell president Amit Malviya accused the Mamata government of hiding information. Responding to this, the Trinamool Congress called him a master figure in spreading fake news.

The Trinamool Congress said that a person who has obtained a Ph.D. in spreading fake news should not tweet on the authenticity of the data. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lambasted Amit Malviya and said that in such a difficult time we should stay away from ‘cheap politics‘.

Four people have died in the last 24 hours in West Bengal. But according to non-government sources, 10 people have died due to infection so far. Mamta Banerjee said on Monday that a total of 61 cases have been reported in the state so far. Of these, 55 cases are from seven families. Apart from this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that 3000 PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) was provided by the Center on Sunday. While he himself arranged for 2.27 lakh PPE.

BJP attack

Amit Malviya tweeted several successive tweets on Monday. He alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government was hiding the data about Corona. He tweeted, ‘What is Mamta Banerjee hiding? No medical bulletins were issued by the Bengal government on April 2, 3 and 5. Surprisingly, there was no mention of the deaths from COVID-19 in the bulletin released on April 4. Along with this, also know that the Mamta administration has ordered a committee to find out the cause of deaths from COVID-19.

Malviya wrote, ‘Hospital administration in Bengal is working under the pressure of Mamta Banerjee. They are under pressure not to investigate the cases of COVID-19. Doctors have been asked not to mention the coronavirus as the cause of death in the death certificate of patients who died of coronavirus.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, ‘The IT Cell of a political party is engaged in tarnishing the image of the Health Department of West Bengal. Our doctors and health workers are working very hard to fight this disease. This is not a time for cheap politics. We did not mention any help that the central government did not get.

She added, “They are more inclined to light a lamp and quit fireworks, but not us.” She also informed that a global advisory board has been formed to help the state government in preparing the roadmap for COVID-19. It also includes Nobel laureate, Abhijeet Banerjee.

Malaviya does not like talking about the authenticity of data

Senior Trinamool leader and Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said that talking about the authenticity of figures to Malaviya does not suit. Dastidar tweeted, “When the CEO of BJP’s information technology cell and Ph.D. in spreading fake news tweets authenticate the data, it seems like COVID-19 is talking about creating social distance and lockdown on you accusing me of breaking the rules.
