Russian star Maria Sharapova announces retirement from tennis at the age of 32, wrote an emotional message


Tennis: Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova has announced her retirement from professional tennis. Maria has decided to retire from tennis at the age of 32. Maria Sharapova, announcing her retirement, said, “How will you live without tennis, whereas till now you were known only for tennis.”


She also said, “Ever since you were a little girl, you have been on the tennis court. Tennis has given you immense joy and tears. A game in which you got the whole family. Unmatched fans found. You are leaving behind a career of 28 years behind you. I am new to this, so please forgive me.”

Maria wrote in the ‘Vogue and Vanity Fair’ magazine, Tennis- Now I call you Goodboy. Maria Sharapova became an overnight star at the age of 17 when she became Wimbledon champion in 2004. Maria Sharapova won the Australian Open title at the age of 20 in 2008. She has won the French Open titles in 2012 and 2014.


Maria Sharapova was also in the news for a statement that she did not know the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. There was also a lot of criticism after her statement not knowing Sachin. Maria Sharapova was the most searched sports personality in 2005 and 2008.

Sharapova has struggled with injuries throughout her career. She holds the record for winning at least one singles title from 2003 to 2015 every year. Such a record is recorded only in the names of Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, and Chris Evert.

Sharapova, who won the French Open in 2012 and 2014, returned to the court in April 2017 after a 15-month ban on drugs. She was convicted of using the banned drugs meldonium during the 2016 Australian Open. After this, the International Tennis Association banned her from playing tennis in her competitions.
