New Delhi: Team India captain Virat Kohli is going to start a commendable initiative in the fight against Coronavirus (Covid-19). Virat Kohli has also got the support of his teammate AB de Villiers in the IPL in this initiative. Virat and de Villiers both Royal Challengers Bangalore players will auction the items that were used during the historic partnership to raise funds.
Virat Kohli and de Villiers will auction the things done in the 2016 IPL match against Gujarat Lions. Kohli and de Villiers had the highest partnership of 229 runs in that match in IPL history. Both batsmen had scored centuries. De Villiers posted pictures of the goods and announced that funds from this auction would be used in the fight against Corona in India and South Africa.
229 run record partnership: AB de Villiers wrote, “Cricket has given me fond memories and the most important of them is the partnership I played with Virat Kohli for RCB against Gujarat Lions in 2016. It was a great match. We both played 96 balls. But had a century partnership of 229 runs. More importantly, RCB won the match by 144 runs.”

Cricket has given me many incredible memories – and, among the most precious, stands the partnership with @virat.kohli , playing for RCB and against Gujarat Lions in 2016. Everything clicked on what was a truly unforgettable night at the IPL. The capacity crowd at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium were going crazy, and we both scored centuries in a partnership of 229 runs from 96 balls. More importantly, RCB won the match by 144 runs. Now we find ourselves in a global crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and Virat and I would like to help people in need, people struggling to put food on the table. So we are donating some of the key items from that special day in 2016 – Virat’s bat and gloves, my shirt and bat – and creating one unique auction item, on the Bid or Buy online platform(link in my bio-type key words in the search button to find the piece). All money raised will be donated to charities supporting people most severely affected by the crisis, split 50/50 between charities working in SA and India. Immediately after the auction closes on 10 May, 2020, I will personally contact the winner and make arrangements for the package to be delivered to your home. Take care and stay safe.
The former South African explosive batsman said, “We are now engulfed by the Covid-19 epidemic and Virat and I want to help the needy, who are currently struggling for food.”
AB de Villiers has made it clear that whatever funds will be collected from the auction will be used equally in the campaign against the Coronavirus of India and Africa.
